Mayor Kaladze: Archi Grand Avenue will bring a whole new scale to urban life in Tbilisi
Construction of a five-star Hilton hotel and Wyndham residences is getting underway at Archi Grand Avenue in the capital. Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze attended the presentation of the project’s new stage alongside Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili, and placed a symbolic time capsule in the foundation.
Addressing the guests, the mayor noted that Archi Grand Avenue will be built on 21 hectares, marking the beginning of an important new chapter for Tbilisi.
“Tbilisi is an ancient city, and the district where we stand today is part of its history. Tbilisi’s future, in turn, depends on projects like Archi Grand Avenue — a new centre in the heart of the capital. I believe this modern 21-hectare district marks the beginning of an important new chapter for the city and will bring a whole new scale to urban life in the capital. Archi Grand Avenue is not just a residential neighbourhood. It introduces a modern way of life, opens up new opportunities and creates a shared space where living, learning, working, sports, entertainment and leisure will all be within everyone’s reach,” the mayor said.
According to the Mayor, drawing on the expertise of international architects and specialists and backed by two billion lari in investment, the project will create a space that brings together nearly every function of a modern city.
“What makes me especially happy is that 75 per cent of the area will be devoted to greenery and recreation: parks, walking areas and bike paths, which is extremely important. Very soon, Tbilisi’s largest sports hall will be built here, along with a padel centre, tennis courts, football and basketball pitches, and, for relaxation, indoor and outdoor pools and a spa. Projects like this can change the rhythm of a city’s development and, in time, become a favourite place for Tbilisians. I hope the project we are launching today will be a great success,” the mayor said, thanking Archi Group founder Ilia Tsulaia for delivering projects of great importance to the city.
