Mamuka Baratashvili appointed Head of Revenue Service; Merab Gamkrelidze to lead Investigation Service

Mamuka Baratashvili has been appointed Head of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance, whilst Merab Gamkrelidze has been named Head of the Ministry of Finance’s Investigation Service.

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, alongside Minister of Finance Lasha Khutsishvili, met with the newly appointed agency heads. The head of government congratulated them on their appointments and wished them success in their roles.

Mamuka Baratashvili brings extensive experience within the Ministry of Finance system. Notably, he served as First Deputy Head of the Revenue Service LEPL from 2020 to 2021 and headed the Ministry’s Tax and Customs Policy Department from 2011 to 2020. He also held positions as Head of the Dispute Resolution Department and Head of the Legal Department at the Revenue Service.

Merab Gamkrelidze served as Head of the Legal Department at the Revenue Service. He has extensive career experience within the Investigation Service, having previously served as Deputy Head of the Investigation Department, Head of the Ajara and Guria Regional Division of the Investigation Department, and Deputy Head of the Tbilisi Main Division of the Investigation Department. Additionally, Gamkrelidze has served as Deputy Head of the Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau and as Deputy Head of the Department for Relations with Regions at the Government Administration of Georgia.
