Mamuka Bakhtadze: We heard lies and “fake news” from irresponsible political forces as if Georgia is not on the political agenda of the West

We heard the lies and the new “fake news” from irresponsible political forces as if Georgia is not on the political agenda of the West and it disappeared from the international radars. It is a lie, – Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze made this statement.

Bakhtadze spoke about recent activities referred to Georgia’s foreign policy at the briefing held before the government session.

According to PM, a few days ago, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, a very good friend of Georgia, visited Georgia.

“The visit by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to our country is a clear message of the Alliance’s firm support for Georgia.  He supports our aspirations, supports the reform package that will help pave the way to NATO membership. The Secretary-General positively assessed the process and obviously highlighted the progress that we have on the path to Euro-Atlantic integration.

We heard the lies and the new “fake news” from irresponsible political forces as if Georgia is not on the political agenda of the West and it disappeared from the international radar. It is a lie. Naturally, I’m not going to do a serious assessment on such statements”, – Mamuki Bakhtadze said.

According to him, Georgia hosts international exercises, and it is the first time in the NATO practice when non-member country is allowed to fully lead such exercises.

“In parallel, NATO Military Committee visited Georgia for the third time. NATO-Georgia Joint Commission Meeting was held in Brussels yesterday with the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. We have heard very strong messages and at the same time, we planned new steps to further increase joint coordination. The steps for Black Sea security concept were discussed”, – Prime Minister said.

According to Mmuka Bakhtadze, Georgia has never been so close to Europe and NATO as at present and the relationship between Georgia and the United States has never been at such a high level.
