“The Special Penitentiary Service has once again urged convict Nana Sander to refrain from spreading false and defamatory statements aimed at discrediting the prison service,” an official statement from the agency reads.

“The Special Penitentiary Service is responding to yet another defamatory and provocative statement issued by convict Nana Sander, designed to discredit the operations of Penitentiary Establishment No. 5. Since her arrival at the facility, Nana Sander has been under continuous medical supervision by the healthcare team at Penitentiary Establishment No. 5. She has been reviewed by specialists across various medical fields, including consultations at a civilian clinic. Sander is receiving all necessary medical services tailored to her health condition. On the grounds of reasonable suspicion, and to ensure the safety of inmates and others, as well as to serve other lawful interests, such as preventing inmate suicide, self-harm, violence against themselves or others, property damage, and other criminal or disciplinary offences, the facility director may authorise visual and/or electronic surveillance and control.

Inmate Nana Sander persistently violates prison regulations, instigates conflict, and verbally abuses facility staff. Consequently, as a direct and entirely logical result of the director’s decision, electronic surveillance is currently being conducted in respect of Nana Sander.

Furthermore, Nana Sander has been provided with a tailored vegan meal option, and her catering is managed accordingly. It is, however, worth noting that she has personally purchased non-vegan items from the prison commissary.

We declare with absolute responsibility that Nana Sander’s allegations regarding a full strip-search are entirely false! During a comprehensive personal search of an inmate, their body, clothing, and footwear are inspected. Under this protocol, the inmate is required, when instructed by an authorised official, to remove clothing or expose specific parts of the body. Crucially, forcing an inmate to be completely naked at one time during a standard comprehensive search is strictly prohibited.

Following complaints lodged by Nana Sander, the Monitoring Department of the Special Penitentiary Service conducted numerous internal reviews. These investigations did not yield a single instance of rights violations by the administration of Penitentiary Establishment No. 5 against convict Nana Sander.

The Special Penitentiary Service once again calls upon convict Nana Sander to cease circulating false and slanderous information aimed at discrediting the service’s operations.

The complete falsity of the claims spread by Sander is fully corroborated by robust evidence held by the Special Penitentiary Service. Out of courtesy and respect for the inmate’s privacy interests, the agency will refrain from making this evidence public at this stage,” the Special Penitentiary Service’s statement concluded.
