Mamuka Bakhtadze – We heard fundamentally incorrect interpretation of our history
We have heard a fundamentally incorrect interpretation of our history which we and Europe are proud of. Time will come when we, together with Abkhaz and Ossetian brothers, will build a united and strong country,” Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze said in response to the statement made by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Bakhtadze said that history of Georgia was a part of the European history and Europeans, as well as the whole international community, knew that history in details.
“The international community has to have accurate information and has to know about our plans. Georgia will continue building a united state and every person will participate in this building including our Abkhaz and Ossetian brothers,” PM said.
According to Prime Minister, consolidation and joint efforts were needed to overcome the painful challenges facing the country. “It is not the time for polarization. Polarization is what makes Georgia an easy target.” Bakhtadze said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on July 9 that “in 1918, Georgia, with help of the German troops, occupied Abkhazia. Georgia did the same in Ossetia in 1919-1920 that is genocide.”
