Lelo’s Tazo Datunashvili: Evidence emerges of voters receiving two ballots; GD launches criminal operations in Tbilisi
“A concerning pattern has emerged: voters are being issued two ballots and are voting with both. The Georgian Dream has apparently decided to carry out a widespread criminal operation across Tbilisi,” stated Tazo Datunashvili, a member of the Lelo-Strong Georgia coalition.
Datunashvili further explained that dozens of complaints of varying severity have already been lodged throughout the city.
“As of 10:00 this morning, the situation across Georgia has worsened. We must emphasise that the Georgian Dream appears intent on executing a criminal operation throughout Tbilisi. Violations are being observed at nearly every polling station. Among the most serious cases currently being documented is in the 51st precinct of Tbilisi, where two ballots were issued to a single voter, for which a complaint has already been filed.
A similar incident has been recorded for the second time in Samgori, initially at the 37th precinct and then again at the 51st. There is a disturbing trend of voters being issued two ballots and casting their ballots twice. This systematic violation has become evident. Furthermore, the 33rd precinct of Nadzaladevi remains a stronghold of organised criminal activity, led by an individual known as Nozadze, who will be held accountable for all related crimes. Efforts to install surveillance cameras have been obstructed.
Several cases have been observed where individuals entered polling booths with their faces covered, suggesting the operation of a ‘carousel’ voting scheme. An additional problematic precinct is at School No. 58 in Mtatsminda, where our camera was simply switched off.
I want to make it clear to the public that we have consistently livestreamed from some of Tbilisi’s most problematic precincts, specifically, the 10 to 12 most challenging polling stations, where fraud and violations have historically been widespread. Dozens of complaints have already been filed across Tbilisi, varying in severity, and reports are also coming in from regional areas.
Voter bribery is occurring directly at the polling stations, with concrete evidence to support this. For instance, in Batumi, at the 15th precinct, a minibus is parked directly outside, with money being distributed to voters. Similar incidents have been recorded in Mukhiani, at the 75th and 62nd precincts. We have documented these cases of money distribution firsthand,” Datunashvili concluded.
