Lelo’s Datunashvili calls on opposition associates to reassess local election's role in resistance movement

Tazo Datunashvili, a member of the Lelo party’s Political Council, stated that he does not intend to publicly respond to all the “groundless accusations” concerning local elections. However, he strongly urged his opposition associates to reconsider the significance and purpose of municipal elections within the broader resistance movement and the ongoing struggle ahead.

“We call on our colleagues to reflect on the role that local elections have played in the resistance movement sparked by the political crisis. Let us carefully examine their function and importance. I understand the heightened emotions involved, and I invite those involved to sit together at the table, face to face, to speak openly and honestly about these issues.

Some seem to want this situation to take the form of accusations. I cannot endorse such behaviour. I prefer to ignore it. It is far more productive to sit down, discuss, and reach a united understanding of what role local elections might play in our future fight,” he emphasized.
