Lelo-Strong Georgia's Kupradze: We reject unfounded opposition accusations, refuse to oppose opposition
“Boycotting is not our way to fight or harm Ivanishvili’s regime. We will continue our struggle on the streets; the fight on the international front—through sanctions and delegitimisation—is of paramount importance. The so-called electoral process, in which we will participate, also holds significance,” stated Irakli Kupradze, Secretary General of the Lelo-Strong Georgia coalition.
According to Kupradze, the coalition will not respond to the unfounded accusations of other opposition parties and respect their differing strategies for continuing the struggle.
“For a long time, we have been consulting with political leaders, although they have now closed the consultation phase. We are moving forward with consultations and negotiations directly with the Georgian people. We tell them that boycotting is not our way to fight or harm Ivanishvili’s regime. We will continue our struggle on the streets; the fight on the international front—through sanctions and delegitimisation—is of paramount importance. The so-called electoral process, in which we will participate, also holds significance.
Meanwhile, we observe that the situation regarding protests has worsened. Georgian Dream effectively suppresses protests; media outlets face attacks, journalists are under threat, and television stations are on the brink of closure—some even facing artificial financial crises. But does that mean journalists have given up? No, they are still here. The streets are active, and the electoral systems have worsened, yet we remain committed to our fight.
We have a clear stance and strategy. We do not respond to the unfounded accusations from opposition parties. We respect their different approach to ongoing resistance. We do not wish to be the opposition of the opposition. Our opposition is directed against the Russian regime, and we will continue opposing Ivanishvili—regardless of how pro-Western parties perceive us. This stance is firm and unchanging. We will not respond to accusations; our fight continues,” Kupradze reiterated.
The Gakharia for Georgia party and Lelo-Strong Georgia coalition signed a memorandum of cooperation for the October 4 elections.
