Gakharia for Georgia and Lelo–Strong Georgia forge cooperation memorandum ahead of October 4 elections
The Gakharia for Georgia party and the Lelo–Strong Georgia coalition have signed a memorandum of cooperation concerning the upcoming October 4, 2025, local self-government elections.
The agreement was formalised by Berdia Sichinava, Executive Secretary of the Gakharia for Georgia party, and Irakli Kupradze, General Secretary of the Lelo–Strong Georgia coalition.
According to Berdia Sichinava, the parties have committed to unite their efforts and fight together in the upcoming local elections.
“Our political alliance and Strong Georgia coalition declare their adherence to foundational principles of memorandum, partnership, and cooperation—paving the way for a unified struggle and coordinated efforts in the local self-government elections. These are no ordinary elections. Accordingly, we must eliminate mutual competition. We will strive to agree on non-partisan, neutral candidates for mayor, as well as on candidates for majoritarian deputies and joint party nominees. Of course, this does not mean we are normalising any process. On the contrary, it signifies another front in the broader movement—an expansion, a renewal, and a new surge of protest,” Sichinava emphasised.
According to Irakli Kupradze, they have established initial principles of cooperation with the Gakharia for Georgia party.
“We respect our colleagues’ differing perspectives regarding various strategies. We do not respond to accusations or engage in disputes because unity must prevail even after October 4. Today, we have agreed on the foundational principles of cooperation. This partnership reflects a vital demand voiced by our citizens. The memorandum we officially signed today in front of the people of Georgia embodies your mandate—that we will fight across all fronts in a coordinated manner, without rivalry. We declare an unwavering fight against the Russian regime, and we carry hope for the future of Georgia,” Kupradze stated.
