Labour Party leader accuses President of coordinating coup to sustain Ivanishvili's oligarchic regime

“President Salome Zourabichvili is allegedly coordinating with an opposition faction to orchestrate a covert coup to preserve Bidzina Ivanishvili’s Russian oligarchic system,” stated Shalva Natelashvili, the Labour Party leader, during a recent briefing.

According to Natelashvili, the President’s recent visit to Europe was intended to safeguard Ivanishvili’s assets from potential sanctions.

“Dear friends, the Christian New Testament warns us: ‘Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.’ Madam Zourabichvili, Georgia’s President, is being directed to execute an oligarchic conspiracy and arrange for the extensive falsification of elections using the language of democracy. She is following orders from Bidzina Ivanishvili. She is plotting a covert coup to maintain Ivanishvili’s grip on power through suspected collaboration with affiliated opposition groups and to help him protect his assets from European and U.S. sanctions. This is the true purpose of Madam President’s recent travels to European capitals.

Salome Zourabichvili is directly instructed by Ivanishvili to manipulate elections, as evidenced by her explicit mention of the parties that she believes will overcome the electoral threshold to secure a place in parliament; notably, she omits the Labour Party and instead cites an array of millionaires and bankers.

I implore this Madam, who has just returned from France, to be content with the business dealings that you and your ancestors conducted in our country. It is not your role to appoint government officials, either constitutionally or politically; it is certainly not your prerogative to select the Prime Minister or to interfere in the political processes of our nation. All that is required of you is to exit the political sphere once and for all. The Georgian people demand this of you; please leave us to our own affairs,” Natelashvili concluded.
