Kakha Kaladze meets Mayor of Nanjing
Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, currently on an official visit to the People’s Republic of China, met with Li Zhongjun, the Mayor of Nanjing.
During the meeting, Kaladze thanked his host for China’s firm and steadfast support for Georgia’s territorial integrity.
The Tbilisi Mayor noted that symbolically, the capital is marking the milestone with a major infrastructure expansion on the 60th anniversary of the Tbilisi Metro’s opening.
“We deeply value the historically friendly relations between our two nations, which have now evolved into a strategic partnership. I am delighted to be in Nanjing alongside members of our delegation. Nanjing is an ancient city that simultaneously embraces rapid modern development. It is home to CRRC, the major Chinese rolling stock manufacturer that produced the new train carriages for the Tbilisi Metro. The acquisition of 111 new metro cars represents a truly historic milestone for Tbilisi, as our metro system has never seen renewal on such a scale. I thank you for the warm reception and look forward to hosting you in Tbilisi,” Kaladze stated.
For his part, the Mayor of Nanjing thanked Kaladze for visiting China and holding bilateral talks.
“It is a great honour to host you in Nanjing. I understand this is your first visit to our city, which boasts a rich history and continues to make significant strides in urban development. Nanjing is home to China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC), where the train carriages for Tbilisi were manufactured. I hope our cooperation will continue across various sectors,” Li Zhongjun remarked.
According to the Tbilisi City Hall press office, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to China, Paata Kalandadze, and the Head of the Tbilisi Transport Company, Giorgi Sharkov, attended the meeting.
