Justice Minister meets Turkish counterpart to deepen bilateral legal and justice sector ties
Georgian Minister of Justice Paata Salia met with his Turkish counterpart, Akin Gürlek, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation between Georgia and Türkiye in the legal sphere. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the International Law Summit currently underway in Istanbul.
According to the Ministry of Justice press service, Salia briefed his Turkish colleague on key reforms implemented across Georgia’s Ministry of Justice and the Special Penitentiary Service. He underscored that expanding international civil and criminal legal cooperation with partner nations remains a top priority for the country.
“Furthermore, the discussion highlighted the extensive array of public and private services delivered to citizens through Georgia’s network of 127 Public Service Halls nationwide. Special emphasis was placed on technological advancement, particularly the development of artificial intelligence anchored in human rights, ethics, and the rule of law during digital transformation,” the Ministry of Justice statement read.
First Deputy Minister of Justice Beka Dzamashvili and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Türkiye Archil Kalandia attended the bilateral meeting.
The International Law Summit is taking place in Istanbul on October 8–9.
