Justice Minister meets North Macedonian counterpart in Istanbul
Georgian Minister of Justice Paata Salia met with Igor Filkov, North Macedonian Justice Minister, on the sidelines of the International Law Summit.
According to the Ministry of Justice press service, the meeting underscored the importance of deepening bilateral ties, sharing expertise, and maintaining close dialogue between Georgia and North Macedonia. The two ministers discussed aligning national legal frameworks with European standards, introducing innovative mechanisms across the penitentiary and probation systems, implementing evidence-based rehabilitation programs, and advancing digital development.
“Paata Salia emphasised that the Ministry remains dedicated to refining national legislation and strengthening legal security in full compliance with European and international standards. Furthermore, it was highlighted that Georgia and North Macedonia were among the first signatories to the Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence, Human Rights, Democracy, and the Rule of Law,” the Ministry of Justice stated.
First Deputy Justice Minister Beka Dzamashvili and Georgian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Türkiye Archil Kalandia also attended the meeting.
