Irakli Abesadze - Audit Office Report Confirms Part of Budgetary Funds Has not been Used for Defense Capabilities

The audit office report unambiguously confirms that part of the budgetary funds allocated for defense field during the years has not been used to increase the country’s defense capabilities, – Irakli Abesadze, a member of the opposition party “European Georgia”, said prior to the meeting of the Group of Trust of Parliament, where the participants will discuss the report conducted by the Audit Service at the Ministries of Defense and Probation.

MP Abesadze said that the Audit Service’s report ones again confirms political assessment of the opposition that the policy of the “Georgian Dream” in the defence field is wrong and in some cases – it is even harmful.

“We consider it important to invite the defence and other relevant ministers, even to the closed sitting of the committee, in order to respond to the questions regarding these violations,” – the opposition lawmaker said.

According to him, the report of the audit service may raise the questions about the Ministry of Corrections and Probation and law enforcement agencies have to study these reports.
