Infrastructure Minister promises strict approach to illegal commercial facilities near highways

Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze emphasised that the ministry will adopt a firm stance against the illegal placement of commercial facilities near highways, citing traffic disruptions and safety concerns.

Following a visit to the Tsitsamuri-Mtskheta section of the highway, Sokhadze emphasised that measures will be enforced to prevent obstruction of traffic and ensure safe movement.

Work has commenced on the km23–km24 segment of the Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze highway, including the installation of deceleration and acceleration lanes, metal barriers, and road signs to enhance safety and traffic flow.

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure’s press service, the agency also plans to organise a single access point for nearby commercial outlets, with work scheduled to be completed within three months during off-peak hours to minimise disruptions. Additionally, the Mtskheta Municipality is actively working to dismantle illegal structures in the area, aligning with the ministry’s efforts to improve road safety and traffic efficiency.
