ID Cards will be issued free of charge for one month

Under the initiative of the Minister of Justice, Tea Tsulukiani citizens will be able to change the paper ID card with a new electronic identity card free of charge within a month.

In particular, holders of paper, so-called laminated ID cards, who have not received electronic ID cards yet, will be able to obtain the electronic identification documents completely free of charge. The action is due to start on February 1 and will last for a month.

Citizens shall address the public service halls, offices of the State Services Development Agency (SSDA), and get an identification card for free.

As a result of the Justice Minister’s initiative, a number of activities have been carried out with respect to the issuance of the electronic ID cards, and more than 2 600 000 citizens received the identification documents, about  1 470 000 for free during last five years.
