High-speed network development project underway in partnership with State Security Service and United States

The Operative-Technical Agency of the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG)continues to roll out high-speed fibre-optic network infrastructure across various sections of the state border, aiming to bolster border security.

To facilitate the development of this network across 35 sectors of the Georgian state border, the US Defence Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) has provided the Operative-Technical Agency with several dozen routers.

Beka Mamardashvili, Director of the Operative-Technical Agency, expressed his gratitude to David Kennedy, Head of the DTRA Caucasus Regional Office, for the agency’s ongoing support and years of successful cooperation.

“We are deeply grateful for the unwavering support and the highly successful, long-standing partnership we share with the Defence Threat Reduction Agency,” Mamardashvili noted.

According to the State Security Service of Georgia, the Operative-Technical Agency has already successfully rolled out fibre-optic network infrastructure along several sections of the state border as part of its high-speed network development project.

Notably, in February this year, the agency completed a pilot installation of a backup satellite internet network at the Border Police’s Lekiskure sector, substantially enhancing information management. Procurement is currently underway for dozens of additional satellite internet devices and accompanying services to facilitate the high-speed network rolled out across 35 border sectors.
