Heavy snowfall leads to traffic restrictions on Georgian roads

Roads Department of the Georgian Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development on Thursday announced traffic restrictions on several sections of road due to heavy snow.

Movement of semi-trailers and trailers is banned on the 40-260 km section of the Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze highway, Gudauri-Kobi section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi route, Khashuri-Akhaltsikhe-Vale highway, 38-86 km section of Batumi (Angisa)-Akhaltsikhe highway, Gomi-Zestafoni section of the Gomi-Sachkhere-Chiathura-Zestafoni highway, 99-125 km section of the Kutaisi-Tskaltubo-Tsageri-Lentekhi-Lasdili, 30-186 km (Jvari-Ushguli) section of the Zugdidi-Jvari-Mestia-Lasdil highway, 39-62 km (Nakerala pass) of the Kutaisi (Motsemeta)-Tkibuli-Ambrolauri highway and Sachkhere-Uzunta-Shkmeri-Zudali highway.

Traffic movement is prohibited for all kinds of vehicles on the 86-106 km (Paksadzebi-Goderdzi resort) section of Batumi (Angisa)-Akhaltsikhe highway, 53-66 km section (Korsha-Biso) of Zhinvali-Barisakho-Shatili highway and 125-151 km (Mele-Lasdil) section of Kutaisi -Tskaltubo -Tsageri-Lentekh-Lasdil highway.

The Roads Department urges the population to drive with winter tires and observe the restrictions.
