Health Minister meets representatives of biosecurity firm Perimeter at 81st UN General Assembly

The Minister of Health, Mikheil Sarjveladze, has held a meeting in New York with representatives of Perimeter, a company specialising in biosecurity infrastructure, on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly.

According to the Ministry of Health, the discussions focused on health security, biosecurity, and the early detection of and timely response to biological threats.

“Emphasis was placed on the early detection of biological threats, their monitoring, and prompt response to potential risks. Particular attention was drawn to the application of modern technologies—including artificial intelligence, which aid in the faster identification of various infectious threats, the monitoring of their spread, and risk assessment.

The meeting also covered prospects for future cooperation and the implementation of new initiatives within the biosecurity sector.

“The meeting was attended by Johanna Fers, Director of International Programs at Perimeter; Lauren Ross, Senior Specialist for Program Management and Strategic Initiatives; TJ Childress, Chief Financial Officer; and Lela Sulaberidze, Head of the Strategic Development and Analytics Department at the Ministry of Health of Georgia,” the Ministry stated.
