Head of Investigation Service unveils new Tbilisi and regional department chiefs

The Head of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, Merab Gamkrelidze, has officially introduced new leadership to staff across the agency’s key structural units.

According to an official statement, Gamkrelidze ordered a comprehensive reshuffle within the law enforcement body. New leadership has been appointed to head the Investigation Department’s Main Tbilisi Division and its regional branches in Kakheti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, and Kvemo Kartli.

Giorgi Kharshiladze has been appointed Head of the Main Tbilisi Division. The regional appointments see Giorgi Javakhishvili take charge of the Kakheti Division, Giorgi Korsantia lead the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Division, and Paata Gordashvili assume leadership of the Kvemo Kartli Division.

During a meeting with the newly appointed regional chiefs, Gamkrelidze addressed the core challenges in detecting, investigating, and preventing financial and economic crimes. He outlined future operational priorities and strategic goals to strengthen the agency’s enforcement capabilities before issuing specific directives to the new leadership team.

Senior executive officials from the Investigation Department attended the meeting.
