GPB Dir/Gen addressed Global Media and Information Literacy Week Conference

The Director General of the First Channel of Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB), Tinatin Berdzenishvili, addressed the 2023 Global Media and Information Literacy Week organized by the Communications Commission (ComCom) as the speaker at the summary conference.

The panel discussion, titled New Media in the Age of Digital Transformation – Channels, Formats, and Audiences, delved into the challenges and opportunities of digital media.

“Starting from the new season, the GPB First Channel introduced the first Georgian BVOD platform, 1TVPLAY. Recent studies indicate a shift in audience behaviour from traditional to digital platforms. Considering this, the First Channel offers a suitable platform for the young audience, a crucial segment for the public broadcaster,” stated Tinatin Berdzenishvili.

Tinatin Berdzenishvili presented the first Georgian free BVOD (Broadcaster Video on Demand) platform, 1TVPLAY, and highlighted the development of the GPB’s digital media products.

Global Media and Information Literacy Week, organized by the Communications Commission, is held within the resolution adopted by the United Nations in 2021 and aims to promote awareness about media literacy and its significance in society.
