Government Administration Chief: Georgia approves 95% of foreign NGO grants, rejecting politically linked projects
“Under regulatory changes enacted in recent years, foreign grants are subject to approval by the Georgian government following detailed vetting by the Government Administration,” Head of the Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani stated on Friday.
According to Zhorzholiani, the current grant approval rate stands at 95 per cent, underscoring the administration’s supportive stance towards international projects aligned with Georgia’s national interests.
“If a project fails to align with state interests, or directly or indirectly involves the improper disbursement of funds in political processes, the Georgian government naturally cannot take a favourable view,” Zhorzholiani explained.
