Girchi’s Iago Khvichia optimistic for election outcome: aiming for second place and run-off
“I am very optimistic about our prospects. My hope is that today’s elections will conclude with me in second place, securing a spot in the second round,” said Iago Khvichia, the Tbilisi mayoral candidate representing the Girchi party.
As Khvichia noted, he anticipates that local elections, unlike parliamentary ones, will be less stressful for voters.
“I view our chances very positively. I want today’s elections to end with me in second place and progressing to the run-off. I don’t know exactly what will happen, but I believe there has never been such a clear opportunity for change, even if the groundwork for the next elections is being laid now. Accordingly, I expect our supporters to mobilise at the polling stations.
I also believe these elections will be less tense for the public compared to previous ones. Past elections have sometimes felt like a battlefield. I think this year’s circumstances should be less intimidating, which could lead to a positive outcome for us. But let’s wait and see how things unfold over the next few hours until the polls close; together, we’ll discover the final result today,” Khvichia said.
