Giorgi Gakharia – I want to thank Party Chair for trust

Minor changes will take place in the government – Giorgi Gakharia, the candidate for the post of Prime Minister, presented by Bidzina Ivanishvili, Chairman of Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia Party, said during the news briefing.

Gakharia thanked Ivanishvili for trust and his predecessor Mamuka Bakhtadze – for good work. “This is a big responsibility. I want to thank every member of the party and the Political Council for support,” Gakharia added.

Gakharia also reported about the planned changes in the government. According to Gakharia, Vakhtang Gomelauri will take the post of Minister of Internal Affairs, while Irakli Gharibashvili – will become Defense Minister. Levan Izoria, current Defense Minister is presented for post of Secretary of the National Security Council.

“These changes will strengthen the team and will make its work efficient,” Gakharia said and added that he would present his program in the parliament.

Vakhtang Gomelauri currently serves as head of State Security Service. Irakli Gharibashvili is the Political Secretary of Georgian Dream’s Party.
