Black Sea Petroleum to begin refining entirely non-Russian crude oil from August–September
Georgian energy company Black Sea Petroleum says it will begin processing exclusively non-Russian crude oil from August–September 2026, as part of its long-term development strategy.
In a statement, the company said that during the first half of 2026 it processed more than 650,000 tonnes of crude oil.
“In light of high public interest, Black Sea Petroleum continues to keep the public informed about the company’s ongoing operations and strategic plans.
In the first half of 2026, Black Sea Petroleum processed over 650,000 tons of feedstock.
Following the engineering and licensing agreements, the company expanded its partnership with international technology giant Honeywell to cover the procurement and implementation of high-tech equipment and automated control systems.
- Q1 2027: The company will begin producing road bitumen for domestic and export markets.
- Q2 2027: The plant will gain the capacity to produce aviation fuel.
Starting from August–September of this year, the company will begin refining crude oil of entirely non-Russian origin. This will open doors to high-margin markets for products manufactured by “Black Sea Petroleum.”
Black Sea Petroleum continues to develop the plant in accordance with its strategic plan and to make a significant contribution to Georgia’s economic development,” the company stated.
