Geostat: Trade turnover of Georgia with EU countries decreased by 4.6%, while increased by 0.9% with CIS countries

According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia, in January-September 2019 the exports from Georgia to the EU countries amounted to USD 620.1 million (16.3 percent higher compared to January- September 2018) and constituted 22.8 percent of total exports, while the imports amounted to USD 1 667.5 million (10.6 percent lower) with 25.8 percent in total imports.

According to the National Statistics data, the external trade turnover of Georgia with the EU countries amounted to USD 2 287.6 million, showing a 4.6 percent decrease compared to the corresponding indicator of the previous year. The EU countries accounted for 27.9 percent of the trade deficit. In January-September 2019 the exports to the CIS countries stood at USD 1 430.9 million (23.2 percent higher compared to January-September 2018) and reached 52.6 percent of total exports, while the imports equaled USD 1 704.7 million (12.4 percent lower) with 26.3 percent in total import.

The trade turnover with the CIS countries totalled USD 3 135.6 million (0.9 percent higher). The CIS countries accounted for 7.3 percent of the overall trade deficit in the corresponding period. The diagrams below show the share of the exports and imports of Georgia by country groups.
