GeoStat reports 11.5% rise in average monthly salaries in Georgia for 2024

According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat), in 2024, the average monthly nominal salary of employees in Georgia increased by 11.5 per cent, equivalent to GEL 204.0, reaching a total of GEL 1,970.8 compared to the previous year.

This year, salary growth was recorded across all sectors. The highest average monthly wage was in the information and communication sector, at GEL 3,923.1, representing a 1.7 per cent increase compared to the previous year. In the financial and insurance sector, the average was GEL 3,677.6, an increase of 14.4%, while in professional, scientific, and technical activities, the average stood at GEL 2,823.4, reflecting a 12.6% rise.

Geostat further reports that in 2024, the average monthly salary for women was GEL 1,591.6, whereas for men it was notably higher at GEL 2,340.7. The annual increase for women amounted to GEL 166.2 (11.7%), and for men, it was GEL 240.8 (11.5%). In nearly all sectors, men’s average salaries exceeded those of women.

Additionally, the report highlights that in 2024, employees in the public sector earned an average of GEL 436.0 per month, 20.6% less than their counterparts in the private sector. Salaries in the public sector increased by 13.0% since 2023, rising from an average of GEL 385.4, while in the private sector, the average rose by 10.9%, reaching GEL 2,116.5.

Last year, salaries within the entrepreneurial sector grew by GEL 197.2, or 10.8%, reaching an average of GEL 2,024.4 per month. The highest wages were recorded in the information and communication sector, at GEL 4,007.2, representing a 1.2% increase, and in professional, scientific, and technical activities, where the average was GEL 3,147.4, reflecting an 11.9% rise.

Furthermore, the agency reports that in 2024, the average monthly salary in the non-business and financial sectors increased by GEL 217.2, or 13.2%, compared to the previous year, reaching a total of GEL 1,866.8. Salaries in the financial and insurance sectors remain relatively high across the board.

Tbilisi and the Mtskheta-Mtskheta region continue to lead in regional salary levels.
