GeoStat: Inflation calculated via EU methodology stood at 5.2 per cent in June

According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat), inflation measured by the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) stood at 5.2 per cent in June 2026, 0.3 percentage points lower than the 5.5 per cent inflation rate calculated using national methodology.

Regarding individual components under the EU’s HICP methodology, the year-on-year percentage changes compared to June 2025 were distributed across several sectors. Food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 4.9 per cent, while alcoholic beverages and tobacco increased by 5.0 per cent. Prices for clothing and footwear declined by 1.6 per cent.

Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels increased by 8.3 per cent, whereas furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance fell by 2.0 per cent. Health costs went up by 4.7 per cent, and transport rose by 14.7 per cent.

Information and communication costs decreased by 5.3 per cent, while recreation, sport, and culture rose by 4.6 per cent. Education increased by 2.5 per cent, and restaurants and accommodation services recorded a 5.7 per cent rise. Insurance and financial services went up by 2.4 per cent, while personal care, social protection, and miscellaneous goods and services increased by 10.4 per cent.

GeoStat began publishing the new Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices indicator in 2022.
