According to the National Statistics Office (GeoStat), Georgia’s inflation rate in February 2026 compared to the previous month was 0.2%, while the annual inflation rate stood at 4.6%.
Regarding core inflation, the indicator for February 2026, compared to the same period last year, was 2.7%. The annual core inflation rate, excluding tobacco, was calculated at 2.4%.
“The monthly inflation rate was primarily influenced by price changes in the following groups: Miscellaneous goods and services saw a 2.9% increase, contributing 0.15 percentage points to the overall index. Notable increases were observed in subgroups such as personal belongings (not included in other categories), which rose by 17.9%, and personal hygiene, which increased by 0.8%.
In the group of alcoholic beverages and tobacco, prices rose by 1.3%, contributing 0.08 percentage points to the monthly index. Prices for both alcoholic beverages (up 2.2%) and tobacco products (up 0.7%) saw increases.
Conversely, food and non-alcoholic beverages experienced a 0.3% decrease, subtracting 0.13 percentage points from the monthly inflation rate. Declines were recorded in subgroups such as milk, cheese, and eggs (−3.5%), sugar, jam, and other sweets (−3.2%), coffee, tea, and cocoa (−2.7%), oils and fats (−0.9%), and bread and bakery products (−0.5%).
However, prices increased in other subgroups: vegetables and garden produce (+4.6%), mineral and spring water, non-alcoholic beverages, and natural juices (+3.1%), fish (+1.9%), fruits and grapes (+1.6%), and meat and meat products (+0.6%),” reads the report published by GeoStat.
