According to the Georgian government, the meeting was attended by Georgia’s First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili, Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili, and Head of Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani.
Earlier, former Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili stated that she met with Senator Steve Daines on behalf of the Resistance Platform. Zourabichvili said she provided the Senator with information about the current issues facing the country.
“He met only with us – the opposition, which is highly significant. He listened carefully not only to our concerns about internal issues and the series of legal violations we presented but also to the strategic challenges that Georgia and the region face—challenges that require considerable attention from the United States,”
Salome Zourabichvili said.
Met with U.S. Senator @SteveDaines, who is visiting the Caucasus. He listened not only to concerns about internal democratic backsliding, but also to the broader strategic threats in our region. Georgia needs and counts on stronger U.S. support – now more than ever.
