A Georgian wine tasting and presentation was held in the city of Bath to raise awareness and boost export growth of Georgian wine across the UK market.

The National Wine Agency of Georgia, alongside its contractor company, Swirl Wine Group, organised the event.

Media, the HORECA (hotel, restaurant, and catering) sector representatives, and retail trade networks attended the gathering. Guests sampled various styles of Georgian wine and learned about the history, traditions, and modern production methods of Georgian winemaking.

Fiona Beckett, a prominent UK food and wine pairing author, and Kate Hawkings, a Bristol-based food, drink, and travel writer, whose work features in influential publications such as the Financial Times, The Guardian, The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, and Decanter, led the tasting and masterclass.

Fiona Beckett has covered the wine industry for many years, serving as The Guardian’s wine columnist and contributing editor for Decanter magazine. Her articles have also appeared in publications including The Times, the Daily Mail, BBC Good Food, National Geographic Traveller Food, and Country Living.

Bath is a historic city in south-west England and is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

With financial backing from the National Wine Agency, Swirl Wine Group is implementing the 2026 marketing campaign for Georgian wine across the United Kingdom. As part of the campaign, Georgian wine tastings and seminars are being hosted in various UK cities, Georgian products are featured at international trade fairs, and targeted advertising and media campaigns are being carried out. Additionally, wine tours to Georgia are being organised for British wine trade professionals.

Notably, between January and August this year, nearly 268,000 litres of Georgian wine were exported to the UK, a 37 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
