“There is huge potential for cooperation with Singaporean companies, both in investment and in technology exchange,” said Irakli Nadareishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development. He was speaking after meetings in Singapore, where he is attending SWITCH (Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology), one of Asia’s largest technology forums.

During bilateral talks, Nadareishvili briefed counterparts on Georgia’s extensive information technology reforms.

“As part of our participation in the Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology, we held bilateral meetings with the Minister for Digital Development and Information and with Enterprise Singapore, where we reviewed both current cooperation and some very interesting prospects for bilateral cooperation. We briefed them on the reforms under way in information technology, including efforts to attract international tech companies to Georgia,” the Deputy Minister said.

Nadareishvili said supporting innovation ecosystems is one of the state’s main strategic priorities.

“The reform under way to develop an innovative start-up ecosystem is one of the main priorities. The Georgian Government is working very actively on it, both on policy and on practical support, so that Georgia becomes a regional hub for innovative start-ups and tech companies, a process we can already see happening,” Nadareishvili said.

He highlighted the great potential for cooperation with Singaporean companies in both investment and technology exchange.

“Alongside the development of the Middle Corridor, services, digital approaches and digital development are among the priorities where we see very great scope for cooperation with Singapore,” Nadareishvili said.
