Georgian weightlifter Lasha Talakhadze sets new world record

Georgian weightlifter Lasha Talakhadze has set a new world record during the Georgian championship in Dusheti today.

By lifting a total of 474 kg, Talakhadze broke his own record (473 kg) set at Rio’s Olympic championship.

According to the international rules of weightlifting, the world record set in the national championship cannot enjoy official status, as according to the same rules, similar results should be fixed during continental championships.

Talakhadze will compete at the World Cup in the United States on December 5.
