Unlawfully detained and sentenced Georgian national Zaza Gakheladze will not appeal against the occupied Tskhinvali court verdict, Gakheladze’s wife, Irma Butkhuzi, announced on Monday.
“I talked to a lawyer. He said Zaza would not file an appeal. I do not know why he decided that. We wanted him to appeal,” she noted.
The occupied Tskhinvali Court sentenced the unlawfully detained Georgian citizen Zaza Gakheladze to 12 years and six months in prison on February 5.
Zaza Gakheladze, a local of Kvemo Chala village, Kaspi Municipality, was shot in his leg and detained at Skhvilo Fortress on July 11.
The occupied regime charged Gakheladze for an attempt to cross the so-called border illegally and for the attempted murder of a Russian soldier.
