Georgian President: Only way forward to be moving towards unity, our common goal
“Although the national and democratic processes in the country were constantly hindered internally and externally, no one could make us refuse our basic democratic values, strengthened by the 1921 Constitution,” Georgian President Salome Zourabicvili said at the solemn sitting dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the first Constitution of Georgia.
“We have lost a bulk of time and still do so in endless controversy and polarization. The only way forward is to move towards unity and our common goal in a coordinated fashion,” President stressed.
“Our constitution is still in transition as we have a major challenge to overcome – apartness from our integral part, the Abkhaz and Ossetian peoples. The unification of the Georgian people and the completion of the constitution together are our goals,” Zourabicvili stated.
Georgia celebrates the 100th anniversary of its first Constitution on 21 February.
