Armenia’s stability and democratic development bear key importance to our country and the region as a whole, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stated during a joint briefing with incumbent Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as part of his official visit to Yerevan.

Georgia has always been a supporter of peaceful cooperation and coexistence in the South Caucasus, and this course will continue, the Head of Georgian Government underlined.

“I am excited to be visiting the Republic of Armenia once again. Our nations share a special bond of centuries-old historical and friendly relations. I am confident that our cooperation will continue in the same spirit.

What makes Georgia and Armenia special is their glorious history, unique culture, and gripping traditions. Our countries must build the future on these values cemented by strong state institutions, democracy, open and transparent governance, economic progress, and innovations. We agree that all this is possible only with peace and regional stability in place.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Karabakh have brought the whole region face to face with formidable difficulties. We believe there can be no alternative to peace, negotiation, and dialogue.

We are committed to facilitating regional dialogue in economy, trade, culture, and other humanitarian issues. And it is to bolster stability, peace, and democratic values that the Georgian people have chosen the European and Euro-Atlantic path,” Irakli Garibashvili said.

According to the Georgian Prime Minister, today’s meeting discussed every key direction of cooperation.

“We also discussed all major directions of cooperation, with emphasis on our aspirations for intensive political dialogue during the meeting today. We touched on prospects of developing our trade and economic relations and new projects. We also discussed cooperation in transport, energy, tourism, culture, education, innovations.

Notwithstanding our active ongoing interaction, there remains enormous untapped potential in more than one direction.

Armenia’s stability and democratic development are of key importance to our country and the whole region. We are convinced that the upcoming snap parliamentary elections will be open and transparent. Armenian people will once again demonstrate their commitment to democratic principles to the whole world.

We also expressed readiness to continue regular meetings, maintain the dynamic of top-level exchange visits, and encourage closer cooperation between the two countries’ sectoral agencies,” Irakli Garibashvili stated.
