Georgian PM says Central Asia holds particular interest for Georgia; we regard Turkmenistan as trusted partner and friend
“Central Asia is a region of particular interest to Georgia. In this context, we regard Turkmenistan as a reliable partner and a friendly state,” the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, declared during a joint press briefing with the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedow.
According to Kobakhidze, deep-rooted friendship and mutual respect form a solid foundation for future bilateral cooperation.
“I am delighted to host the President of Turkmenistan, His Excellency Serdar Berdimuhamedow, in Georgia. It is noteworthy that this is the second state visit by a President of Turkmenistan to Georgia. The first such visit took place in 2015, when Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow visited our country.
I am confident that the President’s visit will make a significant contribution to the further development of Georgia–Turkmenistan relations. Today, we signed a joint statement, as well as agreements and memoranda of understanding on cooperation in various fields; these documents will further strengthen the bonds between our nations.
I had the opportunity to hold a face-to-face meeting with Mr President, during which we discussed the primary focus areas of Georgia–Turkmenistan relations, and reviewed pressing issues on the regional and international agendas.
Central Asia is a region of particular interest to Georgia. In this context, we regard Turkmenistan as a reliable partner and our friend. The relations established between our countries are built upon long-standing friendship and mutual respect, which provides a highly solid foundation for future cooperation,” Irakli Kobakhidze stated.
