Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

According to the Georgian Government, the two leaders highlighted the friendly ties between their countries and noted the positive momentum in expanding bilateral cooperation across various sectors. The parties expect that Serbia will open an embassy in Georgia in the near future, which will further deepen diplomatic relations.

“Attention was focused on the upward trend in bilateral trade turnover, with both sides noting that the signing of a free trade agreement, for which negotiations are nearing completion, will mark a major step forward.

The Prime Minister of Georgia expressed gratitude to the President of the Republic of Serbia for supporting the country’s European aspirations and underscored the special importance of relations built on mutual respect,” the statement from the Prime Minister’s press service read.
