Georgian Justice Minister opens International Law Summit, highlighting rule of law in the digital age
Georgian Justice Minister Paata Salia is participating in the opening of the International Law Summit. According to the Ministry of Justice, Salia delivered opening remarks highlighting the crucial role of the rule of law amid rapid technological progress and digital transformation.
The Minister highlighted key measures designed to boost the efficiency of legal systems and state institutions in a fast-changing world. He noted that under these conditions, it is crucial not only to foster dialogue among legal professionals, but also to deepen collaboration with international partners and share best practices.
“Artificial intelligence and digital technologies, transnational cybercrime, migration, and global economic integration bring new challenges, novel forms of accountability, and a growing imperative for international cooperation,” stated the Minister of Justice, stressing that technological progress must remain firmly anchored in the rule of law and the protection of human rights.
Salia briefed summit delegates on Georgia’s justice reforms, highlighting the modernisation of state institutions and expanded access to public services through AI and digital technologies.
The International Law Summit, held in Istanbul, brings together justice ministers, judges, attorneys, international organisations, legal experts, and scholars from across the globe.
During his visit to Türkiye, Paata Salia is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts—the Ministers of Justice of Türkiye, Albania, and North Macedonia. First Deputy Minister of Justice Beka Dzamashvili and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Türkiye, Archil Kalandia, are also participating in the official delegation.
