Georgian Foreign Ministry - In conversation with David Zalkaliani, Mike Pompeo praised the progress made in US-Georgia strategic partnership
Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani is on a working visit to Poland, where at the opening of the international conference “Peace and Security in the Middle East” he had a brief meeting and conversation with the US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo.
According to the Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, the sides emphasized the strategic partnership of the two countries, the United States side once again underlined the role of Georgia as the strong partner and ally of the US in the region.
David Zalkaliani thanked the US Secretary of State for his support to Georgia and this support was ones again expressed by Mike Pompeo’s public statement about Georgia, made during his visit to Poland. The US Secretary of State once again condemned Russian aggression against sovereign states.
According to the Foreign Ministry, FM Zalkaliani informed the US Secretary of State about the difficult situation existed in the occupied regions of Georgia and the illegal actions of the Russian Federation. The US Secretary of State once again reaffirmed America’s unwavering support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and noted that the US devotes special attention to this issue both in bilateral and international formats.
“Mike Pompey expressed his readiness and support for the development of defense, security and trade-economic relations between the countries. The cooperation between the countries in the field of defense and security was highly praised. Georgia’s active involvement in global affairs was also emphasized at the meeting. The US Secretary of State thanked Georgian counterpart for his position regarding Venezuela.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Secretary of State gave a positive assessment to intensive communication between the countries,” the Foreign Ministry said.
