Georgian Embassy to Iran issues advisory for Georgian citizens in Iran

Georgian Embassy to Iran has issued an official statement addressed to Georgian nationals currently residing or travelling in the country.

According to the embassy, Georgian citizens seeking to cross into Azerbaijan or Turkmenistan must obtain special permission. For assistance in securing this permit, individuals are advised to contact the Embassy directly.

“In light of the current security situation in the country, the Embassy of Georgia in the Islamic Republic of Iran continues to operate under emergency procedures. Embassy staff are in constant communication with Georgian nationals residing in Iran and are closely coordinating with relevant local authorities to monitor the evolving security landscape. To date, the embassy has provided telephone and other forms of assistance to over 100 Georgian citizens.

Those wishing to leave Iran may do so via land borders with Azerbaijan (Astara), Armenia (Norduz), Turkey (Bazargan), or Turkmenistan (Bajgiran).

It is important to note that crossings into Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan require prior authorization. Georgian citizens must therefore contact the Georgian Embassy in Iran for the necessary documentation,” reads the statement.
