Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili on Wednesday presented a report to the Parliament in the format of the Ministerial Hour, covering a number of issues.

Despite the hurdles, Georgia achieved double-digit economic growth for the second year in a row;

Last year, poverty and unemployment fell to historic lows, while positive labour-market trends bolstered;

Georgia has a strong prospect of becoming a regional transport and logistics hub. Along with the development of airports, the government has been actively working in a number of domains, contributing to the strengthening of the nation’s transport and logistics function;

The railway modernization and development of intercity passenger transportation were dubbed as another strategic direction;

In 2022, the passenger flow recovery rate in Georgian airports hit 85%, while the flight recovery rate reached 88%, compared to the pre-pandemic era.

According to forecast data for 2023, Kutaisi and Batumi Airports will serve a record number of passengers this year, 1.5 million and 750,000, respectively;

The government intends to carry out numerous significant projects, including the construction of a new international airport in Tbilisi, a new passenger terminal and air traffic control tower at Telavi Airport, and a new 3.5-kilometer runway at Kutaisi International Airport;

Across the country, work is underway to build tourism infrastructure, balneological resorts, cable cars, competitive services, and new, appealing places.
