Georgian capital hosts 10th Tbilisi Marathon

The Georgian capital of Tbilisi on Sunday hosted the 10th Tbilisi Marathon.

The event began at the Tbilisi Classical Gymnasium on Rustaveli avenue, which temporarily closed several central streets.

Iranian citizen Mohammad Hosseini won a 10K Run, while Georgian citizen Davit Kharazishvili won a Half Marathon Race (21,097 km).

Under HeidelbergCement’s initiative, the first place winner received 2500 GEL, and the second and third place winners – 2000 GEL and 1500 GEL, respectively.

In these years, over 15,000 participants from 157 countries joined the TbilisiMarathon and mobilized more than 500,000 GEL to help the beneficiaries. With this money, social, educational, and living spaces for people and children with special needs were renovated, the organizers said.

This time, all registration fees will be used to construct one of the cottages at the National Autism Center.
