Georgia to kick off Social Code reform

EU-funded development agencies in France and the Czech Republic will kick off a two-year project on the Social Code. This initiative aims to back a sustainable, fair and efficient social protection system in Georgia.

Today, French Development Agency presented a project at the Palace of State Ceremonies.

“In an early phase, the arrangement of the country’s social protection system, as well as the legislation regulating social protection, will be examined. On top of that, EU patterns and legislations will be compared to Georgia,” the Health Ministry reported.

Kuchava believes this is “a turning point for the country’s development” and vows Parliament to involve in the project at full tilt.

“Ultimately, we will be able to apply for EU membership in 2024 and prepare a social security system serving this goal,” Kuchava underscored.
