Georgia ready to reset U.S. relations and rebuild strategic partnership, says Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili
“Georgia is ready and welcomes the transition of our relations with the United States to a normal regime, with the renewal of a strategic partnership from a genuinely clean slate. This will give us the chance to foster partnership relations that serve the interests of both countries,” stated Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili.
The Foreign Minister expressed optimism about the prospects for progress in U.S.-Georgia relations in the near future.
“We have repeatedly discussed the state of our relations with the United States, along with the reasons behind their current status. We have consistently stated that Georgia is ready and welcomes the normalisation of relations with the United States, with a fresh start that allows us to build a partnership based on mutual interests. Georgia has always been a committed contributor to the transatlantic agenda, an important regional partner, and naturally, we expect that the United States will recognise that our relations merit such attention. You are aware that the Trump administration, as well as the current U.S. administration, inherited a challenging legacy in terms of bilateral relations. We hope that we will see some progress soon,” Botchorishvili added.
