Georgia not to join financial and economic sanctions imposed against Russia

Georgia will not join the financial and economic sanctions, imposed by the US and EU against Russia, due to national interests, said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

“As a Prime Minister, I want to tell people that I will not make any decision which in any form will damage national interests of Georgia and the Georgian people,” he said.
In response to the question, if he planned to arrive in Kyiv, Irakli Garibashvili said that the Ukrainian air space was closed and even the leaders of the world’s strongest states could not arrive in Ukraine.

Garibashvili underlined that Georgia expressed solidary and political support to Ukraine many times.

Countries around the world are imposing fresh sanctions against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.

The European Union, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Taiwan all hit Moscow with new injunctions on Friday, condemning the military incursion that unfolded over the past 24 hours.

On Thursday, the United States and the United Kingdom also unveiled more measures against Russia as both nations’ leaders condemned the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
