Georgia in top-10 with respect to index of Freedom on the Net

Georgia was ranked in the top-10 countries with respect to the index of Freedom on the Net published by Freedom House every year. Georgia received 75 points out of 100 and occupied the 10th place.

The research of Freedom House focuses on the 2018 presidential elections during which based on the evaluation of the authors, “Anonymous actors distorted the internet landscape with misinformation released via social media.”

Also, according to the report, the new Constitution of Georgia activated in December of 2018 determines access to the internet as the fundamental right of a person. The report also mentions the distribution of covert recordings reflecting private life.

Iceland is on the first place of the research, Estonia – second, Canada – third. Germany, Australia, Great Britain, U.S., France and Armenia are also among the top-10 countries.
