Georgia successfully evacuated its citizens from Sudan with the support of the Georgian embassy and companies of partner countries.
According to the Foreign Ministry, they were withdrawn to a safe and neutral zone of the Sudan-Egypt border for further transfer home.
“Not a single Georgian citizen stays on the territory of Sudan. All Georgians are evacuated safely,” said Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili.
Sudan’s military and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group have been engaged in fierce fighting since April 15. Georgian citizens staying in Sudan were employees of two Georgian air companies.
