Georgian MFA starts evacuation of Georgian citizens from Sudan

The evacuation of Georgian citizens from Sudan has begun, the Georgian Foreign Ministry announced on Monday.

“Georgian citizens have already departed the location where they were transferred yesterday, and their evacuation from the country has begun,” the Ministry states.

Employed by two Georgian air companies, Georgian citizens were evacuated from the Khartoum airport area to a safer location on Sunday.

Sudan’s military and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group have been engaged in fierce fighting since April 15.
