Georgia and Turkey sign bilateral accord to strengthen educational cooperation
The Government of Georgia and the Government of the Republic of Turkey have signed a comprehensive agreement to deepen cooperation in the field, the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth announced.
Givi Mikanadze, Georgia’s Minister of Education, Science and Youth, and Yusuf Tekin, Turkey’s Minister of National Education, inked the document.
Under the accord, both nations will promote the adoption of new technologies across their respective education systems and share operational expertise in digital transformation.
A central pillar of the agreement focuses on expanding direct links between educational institutions, while providing enhanced academic exchange programmes for school pupils, university students, academic staff, and researchers.
The document further provides for mutual information-sharing on quality assurance mechanisms, the execution of joint research initiatives, and the promotion of Georgian and Turkish language instruction within educational establishments in both countries.
According to the Ministry, the accord will serve to strengthen educational and cultural ties between the two neighbouring states, opening up new opportunities for students and sector professionals alike.
A newly established Joint Working Group, co-chaired by the Georgian and Turkish education ministers or designated senior officials, will oversee the implementation. The task force will coordinate all initiatives outlined in the agreement and regularly monitor progress against key benchmarks.
